ISTANBUL,TURKEY Istanbul is the historical city of Turkey was conquered by Sultan Mehmet II also known as Fateh in 1453.This city was named as Constantinople and was the capital of Roman Empire. During late antiquity , the city was to be the largest of the western world, with a population of 0.5 million or 500,000 people. Constantinople was the capital of the Byzantine Empire , which ended with the fall of Constantinople in 1453.It then became the capital of Ottoman Empire.The population of city declined in war but during Ottoman Government the population grew up near to 700,000 in 16th century. At that time it was ranking among the world's most populous cities. In 1923 when the Republic Of Turkey was founded.The capital was moved from Constantinople to Ankara (old name Angora).And the old name was replaced by Istanbul. ...
